Meet the Sutherlands

Founders of Gospel Tech

We are Nathan and Anna Sutherland, founders of Gospel Tech. We’re so glad you’re here. Here’s a little bit about us and what we do:
  • We are both former public school  teachers, and in 2019, we quit our day jobs to go all-in on Gospel Tech. We want to see kids and families reach their full potential in Christ.
  • Over the past five years, our goal has narrowed: our work largely consists of creating content and resources to help families connect their tech use with the gospel.
  • We’ve been married 20 years, and yes, we were babies when we met.
  • We have three kiddos, ages 12, 10, and 7 who are equal parts delight and crazy.
  • We are passionate about seeing families set free—and are committed to proclaiming the good news of Jesus.
We don’t know everything, we aren’t perfect, and we aren’t Amish. We are, however, passionate about fighting against the hold tech’s had on our own lives, and we promise to share openly and honestly about what we know and what we learn.

Why Gospel Tech?

We believe Jesus came to set us free. Often, our technology gets in the way of our relationship with God and others. We want to see children and parents alike freed from the hold tech has on them. Our goal is simple: Teach families to see where tech is helping and where it is hurting their call to love God and love others; teach the difference between Tool Tech and Drool Tech; provide resources to develop healthy habits; build a community of support as families create new relationships with tech.

Focused on Creating

User-driven and focused on making, exploring and learning.

Life-Paced

Operates at the pace of real life. Not hyper-stimulating or incentivized by artificial rewards or goals.

User Driven

Tool Tech leverages the user’s ability to complete a task. The user remains in control of the pace, process, and end result.
TOOL TECH
DROOL TECH

Focused on Consumption

Designed to keep users passively consuming for as long as possible.

Faster than Life

Operates at a greater pace, and intensity, then real life.

Incentive Driven

Driven by artificial incentives to prolong engagement (points, levels, likes, leaderboards, rewards).
