As parents we are called to:

  1. Raise our children up in the way they should go. (Proverbs 22:6, Ephesians 6:1 – children obey your parents, which implies the parents are tea ching them things)
  2. Hold a standard for what we find joy in: “whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right , whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable, excellent, praiseworthy” (Philippians 4:8)
  3. Model daily relationship walked out with God and others, and the humility required to live as a fallen person filled with a Holy and Righteous God. (Acts 2:38, 1 Peter 5:2-3, Hebrews 12:7-11 – which reminds us that parenting is really a model of God’s relationships with us.

In a digital world this means we’ll need tools that help us navigate content, brain breaks, and the hard conversations that living in a broken world will bring.
